Strong, solid organizations measure their effectiveness using metrics related to their administrative excellence. For APICS these metrics are centered on the effectiveness of the local chapters. Each chapter must render an annual report showing how it met/exceeded these metrics. The awards for compliance are Bronze, Silver and Gold. There are two additional ranks: Platinum and Stellar Platinum. To reach the Platinum category the local chapter must have achieved Gold during five consecutive years.
Our APICS Puerto Rico Chapter reached its first Gold award in 1994 during Angel Sosa’s term as chapter president. We have been a Platinum chapter since 1998. This year (2013) will mark our 16th year as a Platinum chapter. Chapters that achieve and maintain a Platinum level for 20 consecutive years become Stellar Platinum chapters, a feat achieved by only a handful of APICS chapters. The Puerto Rico chapter is one of the outstanding chapters in the APICS organization.
